Marek Hrubec
Marek Hrubec, Ph.D., is director of the Centre of Global Studies in the Institute of Philosophy at the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague. He focuses on global conflicts, social and political justice, and unconditional basic income mainly from the perspectives of political philosophy, political sociology, and global studies. He is the author and (co-)editor of over 20 books, including: Van Parijs, P., Hrubec, M., Brabec, M., et al., Universal Basic Income. The Right to Laziness or to Survival? He is engaged not only in theoretical research but also in efforts to apply it in practice as an advisor to politicians and NGOs in Europe and other parts of the world. In 2013–14, he was a coordinator of the European Citizens’ Initiative for an Unconditional Basic Income in the Czech Republic, and in 2020–21 he is also active in a similar European initiative called Start Unconditional Basic Income.
